Dorothée Werner, President

Dorothée is the current president and a founding member of True Blue Women. She is a native of Paris, France, has three children in the Shawnee Mission schools and teaches French part-time. Dorothée holds a B.S. in international business from the Sorbonne University in Paris and has worked in advertising and marketing. Her hope for 2010 is that every woman will be involved in the political process, so that together we can act and make the world a better place.

Julie Bernard, VP Finance - Treasurer
& Future True Blue Co-Chair

Julie is currently vice-president, finance and the True Blue Women treasurer and a co-chair of Future True Blue. She is married and has two children in the Shawnee Mission schools. She has a B.A. in mathematics from Drury University, and a B.S. in engineering from Washington University. After working for 17 years for IBM and AT&T, Julie now enjoys some fun part-time employment doing bookkeeping and event work for a catering company. She is also a piano accompanist in the Shawnee Mission schools.

Liz Christian, Event Manager

Liz is a private practice clinical social working specializing in teens and families, and happily counsels adult clients, too. She is married with a son and step-daughter and would love more free time to pursue a variety of fun interests!

Amy Goldstein, Environment Co-Chair

Amy received her B.A. from the University of Texas - Austin, and her M.S.W. from KU. She has been working in healthcare management for the past 15 years. Amy became passionate about environmental issues while living in Boston. She is thrilled to bring her husband and son back to her hometown, about becoming involved with all the fabulous True Blue Women activists, and striving to make a difference in this community and beyond.

Nicole has a B.A. in biology from Park University and a Master of Public Health from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She has worked in environmental health, emergency preparedness, and the non-profit sector, and currently facilitates classes for the University of Phoenix. She enjoys reading, volunteering and taking care of her family.

 



 


Melissa Morgan, Health Co-Chair

Melissa has undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work from the University of Kansas. She is a licensed clinical social worker and has worked as a case manager, mental health therapist, supervisor and trainer for 10 years with the Wyandot Center of Kansas City, Kansas. Currently she stays home with her son and volunteers her time with projects that improve the welfare of families. She enjoys reading, following politics and spending time with her family.

Kim Olson, Environment Co-Chair

Kim co-chairs the environment committee with Amy Goldstein. Kim has a B.A. in environmental studies from KU and has worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency since 1989. She continues to hope for an era of greater resource conservation and environmental responsibility. One of Kim's favorite sayings is "SAVE THE EARTH - it's the only planet with chocolate." How can you argue with that?

Lesa Patterson-Kinsey, Education Chair

Lesa is her last semester of the Masters of Social Welfare program at KU. She also received a B.G.S. in speech, language and hearing and a B.S.W. from KU. She has worked in various areas of social work, including the Kansas City Free Health Clinic and Solace House, a center for grief and loss. She has a strong interest in policy and research as well as client care. Lesa has been very active in PTA, and recently became the legislative chair of the Kansas School Social Workers Association. She currently volunteers for the Shawnee Mission School District in the social work department. Lesa enjoys the outdoors and camping and hiking with her husband and sons.

Jennifer Roe, VP Programming

Jennifer is a former co-chair of True Blue Women, and is now vice-president for programming. She is married and has two children in the Shawnee Mission schools. Jennifer has a B.A. in history and an MS.Ed., both from KU. A former middle school teacher, Jennifer currently owns and edits Tastebud magazine. When not writing, she's busy with her kids' activities, her book club of 15 years, knitting and cooking.

Jeanie Schiefelbusch, VP Administration - Secretary

Jeanie is the vice-president, administration and is a founding True Blue Women member. She works for Juniper Gardens Children's Project (part of KU), which is a community-based research program in Kansas City, Kansas, which works with low-income children and families. She has two children in the Shawnee Mission schools, and among other things she enjoys KU basketball and gardening.

Mary Sgroi, Future True Blue Co-Chair

Mary is co-chair of Future True Blue and former chair of the health care committee, as well as a True Blue Women founding member. She is an R.N., with an  M.S. from KU, who practiced in critical care and has an interest in bioethics. She has two children in the Shawnee Mission Schools. She is thrilled that progress has finally been made toward meaningful health care reform!

Judy Sherry, Missouri True Blue Women Chair

Judy coordinates True Blue Women on the Missouri side of the state line. Judy is the owner of the Judy Sherry Consortium, a Kansas City advertising agency. she has a B.S. in agriculture from MU - this nice girl from Chicago came to Missouri to major in fashion merchandising, and found herself in the ag school! Judy and her husband Steve have two children and three grandchildren. In her free time Judy enjoys spending time with her family, working out, following politics and her book club.
