Our Story

True Blue Women began after the November 2004 presidential election. Disheartened by the outcome, a group of women gathered in a living room to commiserate with one another. The group decided to turn despondence into action, and began to gather like-minded women to take action.

Our first action was to mobilize against writing discrimination into the Kansas constitution. Our message, Celebrate Commitment, Value Tolerance, was spread throughout the Kansas City metro area through yard signs, bumper stickers and media exposure. Since then our group has grown to several hundred women who participate in different ways with True Blue Women.

We hold general meetings throughout the year, and have an interest group focusing on the environment.

Our priorities include:

  • Advocating fair and equitable funding of education, health care and social services for all children.
  • Supporting reproductive choice and access to health care for all Americans.
  • Encouraging government and business policies that support family values by giving first priority to the economic and social needs of all families.
  • Working for high education standards in public schools, including instruction in the principles of mainstream science.
  • Promoting conservation and the responsible use of environmental resources.

We welcome your involvement with any of our activities!
